Reasons to Visit Big Sky, Montana

Looking for a new place to ski or snowboard, but don't want to spend a fortune visiting the glitzy resort towns in Colorado and Utah? Yeah, me too. That's why I was doing some research online when I came across an article on Travelatime.com, listing 5 reasons to visit Big Sky, Montana. Let me sum it up for you:

1. You have the slopes to yourself - There are 3 mountains between the town's two ski resorts - Big Sky and Moonlight Basin - and they only contain an average of about 2500 skiers per day. That means long runs and short lift lines.

2. You've never seen so much powder - Low humidity and moderate temperatures give Big Sky its characteristic "cold smoke" powder. Plus, the area gets about 400 inches of snow annually. Park City gets about 350, Telluride gets about 309 and Aspen gets about 300.

3. The apres-ski scene has a Wild West twist - That means delicious T-bones the size of a Stetson, and other hearty country meals after a long day on the slopes. Oh, and wagon-wheel chandeliers, drinks with names like Moose Drool and Range Rider Red, and pan-seared deer sirloin.

4. You can mix your skiing with a winter safari - You can see the wild side of the Gallatin Valley by saddling up with Jake's Horses to clop along the Gallatin River. You might get to see bighorn sheep, coyotes, moose, eagles and elk.

5. The cabins have a warm, Montana flair - While you can stay at a slopeside condo, you also have the option to stay in a cozy log cabin along the Gallatin River. Listen to the wrangler's ranch tales, cruise through the forest and enjoy hot cider and chili.
