Yakima FatCat6 Ski & Snowboard Rack Reviews

Tuesday, 19 January 2010 13:30 First Tracks

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about ski and snowboard racks, so I wanted to write about Yakima FatCat6 Ski & Snowboard Rack. The Yakima FatCat6 is a popular rack, especially for those who have oversized skis. Mounting to the top or your car or SUV, the FatCat6 has a capacity of 6 pairs of fat skis or 4 snowboards. Its unique hinge system keeps your equipment low and compact, for better efficiency. And, it has an over-sized push-button operation, so it’s easy to use even if you’re wearing your gloves. It mounts to round, square and most factory crossbars.

Read on to see what people are saying about the Yakima FatCat6.

Benjamin R. in Bellbrook, OH, gives the Thule Universal FlatTop Ski Rack & Snowboard Rack 5 out of 5 stars.

"I bought this rather than others because of the low price. Installation was easy and it works great. I've used it several times to haul my skis and never had an issue. Locks work well and everything stays secure. I would highly recommend this to carry skis and snowboards."

New INNO Ski and Snowboard Racks

inno_dual_angle_ski_snowboard_rackThe INNO Dual Angle Ski and Snowboard Rack

Just in time for the ski and snowboard season, here are a few new ski and snowboard racks you may want to check out.

INNO brings you the Dual Angle Ski & Snowboard Rack, the Grab Max Ski & Snowboard Rack and the Rail Slider II Ski & Snowboard Rack. All great racks—just a few things to point out about each.

The Dual Angle rack mounts to factory side rails without needing any crossbars. It fits up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards, and includes locks to secure your gear. The Grab Max and the Rail Slider II racks work well with extra thick skis and chunky bindings. They also carry up to 4 snowboards or 6 pairs of skis, and include a lock and key. And, they fit both round and square aftermarket crossbars and most factory crossbars. The Rail Slider II pulls out to the side for easy and convenient loading and unloading.

What are you waiting for? Grab a ski and snowboard rack, load up the car, and hit the road—it’s supposed to be a great snow weekend!
